posted by: greeneyedgrrl (reply) post date: 03.10.04 (10:35 am) Yes, although I was raised as a Baptist, I have since been deprogrammed. I don't have any desire to see the Passion. I don't believe in original sin. I don't think that humans are born wicked or that they need to be "saved", which pretty much negates the need to believe that Christ died for our sins. I can see the moral to the story, though, about one person willing to sacrifice self to save others, like the movies Deep Impact and Independence Day and the-one-with-Bruce-Willis-where-he-blew-up-the-meteor-before-it-hit-the-Earth. I can see where it's also a great way for the church to use guilt and a sense of obligation to increase revenue. Good point about the Spanish Inquisition. It is widely ignored how much harm has been done throughout history both physically and emotionally in the name of Jesus. |
