When Reagan conveniently forgot about the Iran-Contra details the memory loss drugs became all the rage. What better way to preserve your political carreer than to forget about it? Of course, the right doesn't believe in using drugs to alter your brain function, so they must be doing brain surgery or something else. Of course we'll never know, because no one can remember... posted by: Little Mr Mahatma (reply) post date: 08.05.05 (3:00 pm) Call it "Memory of Convenience" like the WMDs in Iraq that were pointed at us and ready to be fired AT ANY MOMENT...I mean...the WMDs that were being covertly made...I mean...sought after...I mean...desired. posted by: Rifleman (reply) post date: 08.12.05 (8:08 pm) The Republicans are in power because they won the election. Recess appointments are constitutional, Clinton did it! Yeah, Iraq is a mess, what a surprise. I always believed that Bush I left Sadam in power because the country has never been very stable. Little did Bush I know just to what extent Clinton would mismanage the peace treaty and allow Sadam to get away with violating it. Mere monthe after Clinton took office, he allowed Sadam to conduct a military campaign that totally destroyed the intelligence assets that the CIA had cultivated. The UN took bribes and allowed Sadam to skim BILLIONS off of the Oil for Food program whle liberals blamed the US for the starving Iraqi children. France, Russia, and Germany violated the Un originated embargo. And yet, what do liberals do? They complain about the Iraqi Constitution. Well, if they are really in charge of their own country, then you should expect them to do things we won't approve of. Everyone knows of the difficulty in Pakistan. What are you suggesting? That we attack Pakistan as well? And you are mistaken again about the idea of "separation of church and state", a phrase not in the constitution, but coined by Jefferson, I believe. The correct term is the "establishment clause" which prohibits Congress from "establishing a religion". A more correct interpretation considering the included guarantee of freedom of religion and the free exercise, would allow even public officials the right to express their religion publicly. It is impossible and unwise to even try to separate church from state. So many of our ideas of freedom in this country come from religion. Even freedom of religion. Think about it. What religion advocates voluntary conversion? Not Catholicism, certainly not Islam in most countries. Historically not Judaism, Protestantism! With that said, evolution is not really science. It can't be observed, it can't be proved, and constantly changes. If it is actually so "Scientific" and so obvious and self evident, then why the irrational defense of this "theory? I'm sorry that you have been laid off. It can be a depressing experience to sit idly by. I hope that you return to work soon, honestly! |
