Too Much To Think
01.30.06 (10:49 am)   [edit]
Wow, it's been a month and a half since my last update and still no change in the job status. Over 100 applications and few bites. But the economy is good, especially for those in the oil industry or if you're an Executive. I think my lack of updates may be directly blamed on Bush - he provides too much fodder to gripe about. Every morning when I read the (Damn Liberal) L.A. Times, there's article after article about more idiocy coming from our Government. Often I don't even have to read the paper. I can see his incompetence by watching the news or checking online.

For example, for months we heard that Iraq was about WMDs and Husseins threat to use them against us. This threat was so looming that we HAD to invade to protect ourselves. This is the Bush Doctrine of preemptive strike. Besides, Bush, said, when the WMDs are found we'll be vindicated in our actions.

No WMDs, of course, which meant that Bush's threat to Hussein to give up the WMDs or face invasion really translated to "We're coming in no matter what". But I digress.

Then the invasion became one of improving the lot of Iraqi people. They WANTED us to come in and free them from Hussein, except for those who don't want us to come in and are fighting to keep it that way.

But, now we find out, it's about Democracy. Democracy is such an important political institution that all countries must have at all costs because it's, well, like, the best. And so what happens?

The Palestinian people democratically vote Hamas as their ruling party and, boy, did Bush look like an idiot (more than usual) when he tried to explain that Democracy is good but in this case...

Democracy is no guarantee of peace or of happy people. Look at the U.S. - how few years of peace have we truly had? We may have a great standard of living but at what cost and are all Americans living well?

My take of Hamas's position is unique when compared to what's being printed. Simply, they must change their tactics or face annihilation, or they may start World War III. Here's why. When Hamas was simply a fringe group, their actions could be shuffled off as such by all involved: the PLO, Israel, and others. Sure, the PLO didn't exactly try to stop Hamas but it was clear that Hamas's action weren't "official" state policy. Now Hamas can't hide. If they continue to bomb, it becomes an act of the Palestinian State which means that Israel can fully retaliate.

Which means that Palestine could get wiped off the map, or that it will spark off a World War because (I doubt) Russia will avoid the profitable opportunity to arm the Arab Nations. Plus, it opens the chance for other nations to grab the oilfields, meaning that players like Russia and China and others may actively support military actions, if anything, to "secure" the oil.

On to other grievances. In todays paper, there was a small article about how missing Iraqi oil money. Surprise! Billions of dollars are unaccounted for from the Iraqi Oil sales not to mention billions more that we've blindly shuttled in to the country.

I don't know about you but I get cheesed when doing my taxes. Our Government expects us to account for every dollar in and out. Yet, we don't expect the same of our Govnerment. Where's the accountability? Considering the billions of dollars disappearing into Iraq, we deserve to know exactly where the money goes. It's our money! Heck, not even Iraq. We should be able to go online and find out where it all goes in an easy to do fashion. Where's the beef and the pork?

And, again, I lament that I can't be more like Bush and simply rely on my intuition. I just get this strange feeling that God gave us brains for a reason. Maybe that's why I'll never be an overpaid Executive.
