The idea that Bush *could* be a dictator, that you'll be killed for protesting, or that he would kill protestors to drive bullet sales is the stupidest thing i've ever heard. posted by: littlemrmahatma (reply) post date: 07.29.04 (10:00 am) You're right - it is stupid but also cautious. There's too many signs that we as a people are losing or may have already lost control of the Government, OUR Government. I'm just trying to get people to think, to see that things aren't always as Bush says they are, and the examples though extreme and somewhat silly are to drive the message home. Silly that Bush could be a dictator? Sure, silly that an Austrian with a stupid moustache could take over Germany. Silly that Congress *gave* Bush their power. Next step will be that what they don't give, he takes. Silly, stupid, and scary. posted by: WinstonSmith (reply) post date: 07.29.04 (10:15 am) Reply to: newbie It's not ridiculous. Bush has give himself dictatorial and imperial powers that are dangeous. You really need to do more research, because Bush is a dangerously stupid and corrupt man who doesn't comprehend the consequences of his insane neo-con decisions made for him by Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz and the rest of these goons. We must ensure that the election is not stolen again as it was in 2000 in their vile banana republican coup d'etat. posted by: WinstonSmith (reply) post date: 07.29.04 (10:17 am) I think your post is excellent, littlemrmahatma. Of course, I think we should have UN oversight in swing states to ensure that Bush does not rig the election-- the voting in Florida under the criminal Jeb is a scandal and Jeb should be put in prison (so should George W. and Poppy Bush). If Bush steals the election again-- then we should rise-up and demand a new election. Protestors should take to the sreets. We should not accept another power-grab by these neo-con thugs determined to destroy our nation. posted by: WinstonSmith (reply) post date: 07.29.04 (10:17 am) Perhaps a recall like they did with Gray David in CA. posted by: littlemrmahatma (reply) post date: 07.29.04 (10:37 am) Thanks but my point is - if Bush takes control, real control, how do we get control back? A recall can be easily rigged. Protests can be disrupted or stopped by the Military, or simply ruled illegal. If Bush (or some future dictator) seized control of the U.S., suspended all liberties, invoked sever martial control, how would we get our country back? My instinct says in that case intervention by other countries might solve the problem. But my concern is that we had checks and balances against this sort of thing happening and those check/balances are disappearing. I know that come November I'll be swigging Mylanta, popping aspirins, chugging beers, and praying to every known deity - anything to keep Bush out of office again. And voting for Kerry (*grumble*). posted by: DrForbush (reply) post date: 08.03.04 (9:00 am) Our best hope is that the Democrats win back the Senate. Then there will at least be some check on the Executive branch. If the Republicans retain control with Cheney in charge and Bush as his puppet there is a real possibility of Bush acquiring more and more power. People act like this is impossible, because it hasn't happened here, but look at the rest of the world. Democracy is the exception, not the rule. What I would do is to continue what I am doing now. I would continue to write about the lies of the Bush administration. If they took the Internet away, I would go back to the old fashioned way of printing papers and distributing them around town. Going door to door. Writing letters to the editor of the newspapers. Holding neighborhood meetings to discuss the threat of the Bush administration. Many of these activities could end in arrest and court cases and publicity. Of course, the Bush administration would paint me a terrorist sympathizer and I would continue to deny their accusations. Like they say, the pen is mightier than the sword. posted by: newbie (reply) post date: 08.20.04 (11:02 am) President Bush didn't steal anything. posted by: Fre (reply) post date: 09.27.06 (11:25 am) Good Site |
